National HAB Observing Network Enhances Coastal Bloom Monitoring

The National Harmful Algal Bloom Observing Network (NHABON) is advancing efforts to improve how the U.S. observes and responds to Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). By connecting regional networks, researchers, and observing systems such as CARICOOS, NHABON strengthens national coordination and data sharing to better protect marine life, public health, and coastal economies.

Through continuous monitoring and collaboration, NHABON supports the development of early warning systems that help communities prepare for and reduce the impacts of HABs across coastal and island regions.
