On Friday, May 16, CARICOOS hosted a Coastal Hazards Workshop attended by enthusiastic science teachers from schools across the island, all of whom are part of the Puerto Rico Department of Education. From storm surge to rip currents, educators explored the science behind these hazards and how to incorporate this critical knowledge into their classrooms. They also learned about CARICOOS ocean observing resources to help students connect with their local environment through science and technology.
This workshop is part of an initiative to integrate coastal hazards education into classrooms across Puerto Rico, empowering students to understand and address these challenges. We are committed to supporting these educators as they inspire the next generation of learners.
